Public Safety Software Company Raises Awareness, Educates Potential Customers
SOMA Global’s Challenge
SOMA Global is a public safety technology company providing cloud-native software solutions to law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), fire, dispatch, social services, and correctional organizations. As many local and other public safety entities tend to run on outdated technology systems, SOMA needed to educate audiences on the importance of upgrading technology, and position SOMA as the ideal solution.
SOMA Global selected Carve in May 2022 to help build awareness of SOMA’s offerings, including a new “hub” that combined different areas of service, and to encourage local organizations to partner with SOMA to integrate its technology.

The Carve Solution
When Carve started with SOMA Global, their target audience was very niche and there weren’t new announcements on the horizon. Before any work began, Carve performed a thorough competitor audit and worked with the SOMA team to understand what truly differentiated them. The end result included sharing the C-Suite’s unique industry experience and perspective to help explain why public safety organizations should choose cloud native – and, thus, SOMA Global – for their technology needs.

Aligning each executive with a specific media vertical across police, fire & EMS, technology and general business. The CEO’s experience lies in technology, so we focused pitch efforts around him that would highlight the product innovation (like in this BetaNews byline). On the other hand, the co-founder worked in the law enforcement field, so we utilized his experience to make inroads amongst this target audience (like in this EMS World byline).

We worked to get SOMA Global executives interviewed in a wide variety of trade press. To keep coverage consistent, we also pitched byline articles heavily knowing these trades hit the right audience and are often short-staffed and looking for outside contributors to supplement coverage. These opportunities allowed us to contribute problem-solution messaging around recognizing the need for a public safety software update and the best-in-class solution.

We focused significantly on Tampa-based newspaper and digital outlets – where SOMA Global is based – and leveraged timely hooks to secure interviews with the CEO. For example, when Hurricane Nicole hit South Florida in summer 2022, we highlighted how that situation could have been better mitigated with the proper technology system in place, which landed in Tampa Bay Business Journal.
